Project:World Trade Center Slurry Wall Leak Repairs

As part of the ongoing rehabilitation of the World Trade Center site prior to the construction of the new “Freedom Tower”, the New York/New Jersey Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH), required that the existing slurry wall, that will remain exposed, be free from any visible water leaks.
After having several of the leaking areas injected with polyurethane foam by a local New York contractor, PATH engineers discovered that the leaks returned as though they had never been treated.
PATH officials then met with the General Contractor in charge of the slurry wall repair project, Yonkers Contracting Corp., and specifically asked for Jean’s Waterproofing (JW) to be the sole waterproofing contractor for this project. JW had previously been contracted by PATH in Phase I of the subway tunnel leak repair in 2002 and it was very successful.
JW started this project on 1/3/05 and were directed by PATH engineers to inject approximately 400 linear feet of slurry wall leaks and the leaks appeared to stop almost immediately following the injection.
