Owner: District Council 37 of New York

Location: Lower Manhattan, NY

Project: 125 Barclay Street Basement

System: Barrier Grouting walls and floors from interior

Completion: May 2016

Stantec Engineering Services contacted Jean’s Waterproofing, Inc. (JWI) soon after the Sandy super-storm flooded lower Manhattan to assist in putting together a barrier grout project for the sub-basement of the District Council 37 building. The walls and floors leaked large amounts of water through construction joints and map cracking locations. An acrylate resin was chosen to perform barrier grouting from the interior. JWI worked with the owner to allow large portions of the occupied basement to remain open during the work. Over five thousand square feet of walls and floor were injected to form a barrier against water intrusion through map cracking and joints. The basement remains dry
